BIO
Edward G. McAnaney is originally from Yonkers, New York, and was admitted to the Connecticut state and federal bars in 1986, and the New York bar in 1995, and practices law in both of those states.

Mr. McAnaney specializes in probate, estate, and tax planning, estate and trust administration and litigation in the probate courts and superior courts of Connecticut, and the surrogate's courts of New York.  He served as a Connecticut probate judge for 11 years from 2000 to 2011.  As probate judge, Mr. McAnaney

decided whether wills and trusts should be given effect under the law, appointed fiduciaries such as executors, administrators and trustees and appointed conservators for mentally and physically impaired individuals.  He also decided disputes over wills, trusts and conservatorships.  

In addition to his probate and estate practice, Mr. McAnaney practices in the areas of residential and commercial real estate and general civil litigation, including appeals in the Connecticut Appellate and Supreme Courts.  He represents individuals and Connecticut Municipalities concerning real estate tax appeals, zoning, wetlands and other administrative matters.  Additionally, he represents individuals in tax disputes with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service and Connecticut Department of Revenue Services.

Mr. McAnaney currently serves as an Attorney Trial Referee of the Connecticut Superior Court since 2008.  Since 2011, Mr. McAnaney has been a member of the Connecticut Medical Examining Board, which decides admission to practice and discipline of physicians, physicians assistants and osteopaths.

Mr. McAnaney served as an officer in the United States Navy until December of 2006, retiring at the rank of Captain.  During his time in the Navy, he spent extended periods of active duty as the chief of staff of the George Washington carrier Battle Group at sea (January 2002 - February 2002) and as Commodore of Naval Costal Warfare Squadron 25, deployed to the Persian Gulf (July 2004 - May 2005).  Mr. McAnaney also served two terms as the full-time First Selectman of Suffield, Connecticut from November of 2011 through November of 2015.  He has been a member of the Suffield Knights of Columbus for many years.

Deborah R. McAnaney has been the paralegal at McAnaney & McAnaney for the past 18 years, specializing in real estate transactions, estate administration and litigation, and general office management.  After Mr. McAnaney's military service in 2005, she joined her husband as a paralegal at his law firm.  She is the proud mother of four children and now three (!) grandchildren.
